VJ003 Volcanoes and Igneous Rocks

£0.99

This is the final lesson in the Volcanoes series. It examines the structure of volcanoes, how they form and the different types of igneous rock they produce.
There is an opportunity to make a model volcano.
If you have any igneous rocks they could be looked at with a hand lens when we consider these rocks in more detail.
Alternatively there are some excellent slides of igneous rocks in the accompanying power point that you can use to identify their characteristics.

VJ002 Volcanoes and The Movement of the Continents

£0.99

This is the second lesson in the Volcano series. The lesson starts by examining the Genesis account of Creation, to establish that originally there was only one land mass and one sea. The idea of the 7 continents, (NC Geography, KS1), is then introduced and contrasted with how the original single land mass might have looked. Students should see that the 7 continents miraculously ‘fit together’ like a jigsaw. There is an opportunity here to demonstrate this using ‘The Continents’ template and cut out your own continents jigsaw.

VJ001 Volcanoes and The Three States of Matter

£0.99

First of three lessons which together will explore volcanoes, the igneous rocks they produce and link these ideas to the Creation account in Genesis 1 and the Flood description in Genesis 7.
This first lesson looks at what volcanoes do to rock; introducing the idea that solid rock is melted and turned into a liquid. The three states of matter are explored, together with the key words to describe each change of state. (These ideas are key to the understanding of how igneous rocks form - covered in VJ003.)

R003 Plate Tectonics and The Global Flood

£0.99

This is an interesting lesson which considers the theory of Continental Drift and looks at the possibility that this movement of the continents could have been initiated by the Flood.
The lesson starts with an in depth Bible study which considers the meaning of the Hebrew words used in the Genesis accounts of Creation and the Flood. These descriptions explain how there was sufficient water to cover the Earth and how the Earth's geology would have been dramatically altered when the Flood happened.

R002 Evidence for a Global Flood - Fossils

£0.99

Science looks for evidence to support its theories and the millions of fossils buried in rocks all over the Earth gives a wealth of evidence that catastrophic events have wiped out millions of land and sea creatures in the past. This lesson looks at whether the global flood, described in Genesis, could have been the mechanism that caused the death of all these creatures.

L001 DNA and The Origin of Life

£0.99

This is an interesting first lesson in the 'Life' series that tackles the important question of how life began. This has always been a BIG question in the science community and so in the lesson we look at some of the early, sometimes simplistic ideas, about how life started. The discovery of DNA is introduced and this amazing molecule explored. There is also a fab experiment which you can do at home, where the DNA is extracted from various fruits.

S001 A Critical Evaluation of the Scientific Method

£0.50

Any discussion of evidence and facts requires an understanding of the nature of science. In this first lesson the way science works today is examined and the distinction between Operational Science and Historical Science explored. This lesson should be covered first, as the points it raises underpins future lessons. The lesson involves an experiment which can be carried out with household products; equipment details and safety issues are covered in the student workbook.
